Looking Back - Costa Rica 19'

It’s hard to believe we were in Costa Rica an entire year ago but as we are getting ready to book our trips back this year we thought we would take some time to reflect on our last Pura Vida moments to get us even more stoked to hop on a plane and get our pasty white bodies scorched. 

On our last adventure to Central America we found ourselves going down just about every dirt road we could get our 4 wheels on in the search of waves to surf, and we were not disappointed. Costa Rica has it all from the jungles to the mountains to the beaches. You can find yourself hiking, surfing, eating the bountiful fresh fruit, playing with monkeys, swimming in hot spring rivers and relaxing to the fullest. It’s the reset we needed and man are we glad that we went when we did because for the rest of the year we did work, lot’s of it. Which leads me to my reflection and inspiration from the trip.

Sometimes there are so many cool opportunities that pass by our desk and it makes it pretty hard to not say yes to every single one of them, but after last year we came to the realization that it is necessary to keep a healthy work / life balance and set expectations and realistic time lines that don’t make us go nuts. I guess that comes with owning your own business and seeing growth that you couldn’t have wished for in your wildest dreams. We feel so fortunate for the work that we get to do and the clients that trust us to build their businesses. Just like a garden however, in order to see growth it needs time to rest, and going into 2020 we have some pretty awesome trips planned intermittently throughout the year. We have no option but to leave the country, catch our breath and get inspired and stoked to come back with new ideas and a fresh mind to bring to our clients and new design endeavors.
